TOUR 2009
For the 'WALK YOUR TALK TOUR 2009' Nimomashtic will be walking 750 miles with a patio heater in tow from Brighton on the south coast of UK to the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland whilst playing concerts along the way.The two month long tour will head south west before moving up the spine of the UK and finally hauling it to the top of the mountain.
Why you may ask?
Each patio heater generates 2.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide on average per year, the equivalent to driving a car for over 6,000 miles. Now that many species are becoming extinct, sea levels are rising and people are already fighting over resources, these heaters can be seen as a modern day cultural symbol of a society unable to think with foresight and care for future generations.
According to the Green Barometer, Britains first national survey of the countrys attitudes to green isues, Ownership of domestic heaters is set to double from 1.2million currently to 2.3million in the near future.
In this age of climate change is it not wise that we cease to use or ban such a luxrious and un-necessary item. For this reason Nimomashtic will undertake the walk giving away free jumpers and planting more seeds along the way.
After hauling it to the top of Ben Nevis, the band will fire up the patio heater to keep warm and to bring some light to the issue.
Alongside this tour a 'Ban the patio heater' petition has been created to be delivered to Downing street, the European commision for the environment and the United nations.
Climate change is happening right now and a real threat to the future of all species on this planet. Governments and corperations are increasingly slow to act, if this situation is not taken seriously here and now then this planet could well be witness to a level of violence quite unseen before.

1. To highlight how absurd it is to own a patio heater in these days of climate change.
2. To give away free jumpers as an alternative.
3. To plant wildflowers and appleseeds as a symbol that only with mans helping hand can an overwelming environmental crisis be avoided.
