WHO ARE WE?
What is Walk your talk?Walk your talk was set up as a reaction to a week full of bad news about the state of the planet.
The aim is to use musical and artistic talents to be of benefit to the world and create positive news. At the projects creation the focus was primarily on the band Nimomashtic.
Nimomashtic are a band with a difference, across the summers of 2006 and 2007, these intrepid musicians walked 1200 miles playing over 55 concerts.
The 'Walk your talk' tours see the band quite literally walking from gig to gig, carrying all their equipment and sleeping under the stars each night.
Taking their lead from the old American folk hero 'Johnny Appleseed' who as a service to humanity planted many thousands of tree's in his lifetime, the Eco band also planted their own apple and wildflower seeds alongside the paths they walked.
Their footsteps and planting were intended as a symbol that only with mans helping hand can an overwelming environmental crisis be avoided, and to inspire others to think more carefully about how their day to day actions affect the environment on a local and global scale.
Many people the band met on their journey made a pledge to make a change - like using the car less, growing more of their own food and one man even promised to plant an entire orchard on a plot of land he owned.
Lately the project has also been in schools where environmental workshops were delivered alongside tree planting and the screening of inspirational film 'The man who planted trees'. In Spring 2010 a documentary is set to be released charting the trials and tribulations of the band as they walk 900 miles around the UK. Watch this space for more details.
Now an online monthly magazine 'Walk your talk' is a 'not for profit' group, and all monies raised currrently go towards the setting up and running of a new and ambitious walking tour in Europe.
